Two days ago, News from Uncibal became a Substack 'bestseller’ - the first step, no doubt, towards Stephen King-like levels of wealth and fame. I thought I would take this opportunity to write a few words of thanks to paid subscribers, regular commenters and sharers, and really anybody who takes the time to read my unhinged rants here.
Without wishing to sound too melodramatic, writing this Substack brings with it a non-negligible risk of earning the everlasting opprobrium of my colleagues in UK academia, and has - I know this for a fact - harmed my career in various ways. So it is very gratifying that it has found some success and that people find it helpful. Thank you for reading and supporting my work.
In honour of the occasion, I thought I would provide more recent subscribers and readers with a few links to older posts (i.e., beyond the last 12 months) they may have missed and which I am particularly proud of. Here are eleven, in no particular order:
Equality in the Sibling Society (19th October 2023)
On Comprehensive Sexuality Education and Political Reason (22nd September 2023)
Sexuality and the Right to Power (28th September 2023)
There Is No Such Thing as Liberal Conservatism (16th November 2023)
We Don't Like Children Anyhow (29th December 2023)
The Conceptual Conditions of Ruin (10th February 2024)
The Mother Hen State and the Denial of Sh*t (2nd April 2024)

I will be back next week; in the meantime I’ll be treating myself to some excellent independently bottled single malt whisky. Slà inte Mhath!
Omedetou gozaimasu! may you earn enough that you no longer need to care about the feelings and delicate sensibilities of your academic colleagues
Your explanation of political reason has been one of the most helpful strands since I began reading around why the political/moral climate feels so off. Please keep up the good work.
